We know that with the recent snow, Spring seems a long way away. But the thawing snow also brings the great news that the brilliant swingamajig is back in Birmingham on the 6th May……
SWINGAMAJIG FESTIVAL RETURNS TO BIRMINGHAM FOR ITS SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR.
Immerse yourself in a vintage wonderland tucked amongst the railway arches of Digbeth; seven stages curated and produced by the team behind Shambala Festival and Brum’s own Electric Swing Circus. A mind-blowing explosion of sound and colour – expect street art and performance, visual installations and crazy stage sets that revitalise the city’s industrial quarter in unimaginable ways.
The diverse musical line up reflects the famed multiculturality of the second city; from gypsy swing and jazz to Balkan beats, dubstep DJs to bass heavy rhythms and of course a healthy dose of traditional and electro swing. 2018’s headliners include Slamboree, Electric Swing Circus, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys, Swing Punks and returning Swingamajig veterans, the 16-piece swing band, Jim Wynn Swing Orchestra.
It’s not just about music. Swingamajig’s performance line up is packed to the rafters with sultry burlesque acts, mind-bending magicians, world-class cabaret and circus daredevils, internationally acclaimed dance acts, all manner of walkabout performance and incredible art installations.

Swingamajig has once again teamed up with Birmingham dance school, The Swing Era, to run a series of lindy hop and solo jazz workshops the day before the festival, allowing people of all abilities to dust off their dancing shoes and practice their moves in time for the main event. Additionally, those who have always dreamt of running away to join the circus can hone their big-top talents with an Aerial Circus Skills workshop, run in partnership with Circus MASH.
Start festival season nice and early, amongst a 4,000 strong crowd of devoted, fun loving, party-goers who span the generations, dress to impress and create an inclusive atmosphere where almost anything goes. As ever, Swingamajig promises one hell of a party.
