I suppose the first thing that should be done, is to explain the reasoning behind the name for this site…The Soul Of A Clown.

It actually comes from a Jim Morrison quote:

“I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments”

Now, I wouldn’t want to get too philosophical about this, and in many ways the name was chosen mainly because I just like the quote. However, it also has some meaning to me, in terms of the recognition that people have individuality/characters and none of us are perfect. In many ways, a song is similar, it can have a character and a life of it’s own and, like people, some will like it and some won’t.

Music can sometimes be brilliant and intelligent, but it can just as easily be throw away and pop. Neither is right or wrong and again people will always have their own opinion on if it’s ‘good’ or ‘bad’.

The purpose of The Soul Of A Clown is simply to introduce you to something… be it a band, a song, an album, an event, a book etc etc. It might be something you love or, occasionally, you might hate it, but at least we will have given you the chance to see or hear about it.

Music is a wonderful thing which can make your life richer and is loved by so many people, so it will be a joy if we can just introduce one new artist or musical event to you.
